OF32 The energetics of water and methanol dissociation on Pt(111) by adsorption calorimetry

We report here calorimetric measurements of the heats of formation of adsorbed hydroxyl and adsorbed methoxy on Pt(111).  These, together with our calorimetric heats of adsorption of water and methanol, are used to predict the reaction energies for the dissociation of adsorbed water and methanol on Pt(111).
