The ethanol steam reforming reaction over bimetallic Cu-Ni/SiO2 catalysts could be explained, qualitatively and quantitatively, by the proposed reaction scheme of ethanol dehydrogenation to acetaldehyde (AA), wherein acetaldehyde steam reforming and acetaldehyde decomposition compete with each other, and a subsequent CO conversion to CO2 via water gas shift reaction.
