A novel, recirculation loop reactor attached to an ultra high vacuum system has been developed for evaluation of single crystal and model catalyst surfaces.  The hydrogenation of propylene over a Pt gauze sample (2 x 1015 sites) has been used to successfully demonstrate the operation of this reactor.
