Supported ordered MCM-41 based catalysts were prepared via the mixed templating route, using mixtures of cationic and either anionic or neutral surfactant. It was observed that Ni doped MCM-41 catalysts prepared by mixed templating route were more active in the hydrogenation of benzene than those of the corresponding traditional MCM-41.
