The reaction network of n-butane conversion on H-Mordenite and Pt/H-Mordenite in the presence and absence of H2 is elucidated by combining kinetic data with analysis of surface species by UV-vis and other spectroscopies. Conditions of stable performance are distinguished from those leading to deactivation, and coke precursors are identified.
