The effect of substitutional boron on the oxidation behavior of carbon is studied. Boron substituted carbon (BCx) was formed as a thin film via CVD reaction of benzene and BCl3 at 900˚C. Carbon supports with boron content as high as 10 atomic% were prepared by depositing BCx on various carbon substrates.
