The impact of sulfur on autothermal reforming performance can be negated through effective use of heat transfer coupled with the understanding of the energy requirements, enabling durable and efficient reforming of ultrahigh-sulfur fuels.  Use of advanced catalyst substrate designs enables this goal while simplifying the reforming of high-sulfur content fuels.
