The fluidizable 20wt%Ni-5 wt% La- γ Al2O3 catalyst of the present study allows 100% glucose conversion at 600-700° C without detectable tar and coke formation. Performance and stability of this catalyst under repeated oxidation and reduction cycles, which are the conditions expected in autothermal gasifiers, are very encouraging.
