P-Tu-69 Hydrothermal Synthesis and Surface Characterization of Novel Alpha Alumina – based Nanomaterials

Hydrothermal synthesis produced both pure and metal doped α-Al2O3 nanosheets, 10-50 nm thick, aspect ratios above 100, surface area higher than 40 m2/g and metal doping of ~0.5 atom %. α-Al2O3-C composites exhibit surface areas of 300-670 m2/g and enlarged carbon mesopores perpendicular to the (001) α-Al2O3 facets.
