For higher alcohols synthesis, the Co-La-Zr/carbon catalyst presents unique properties; no production of ketones, aldehydes and high yield toward C6-C18 alcohols. In this study, we investigated theoretically and experimentally the role and nature of the active species for production of alcohols, in order to modulate the alcohols distribution and selectivity.
