OD40 The Reactivity of the Metal-Water Interface during Selective Oxidation Catalysis

Theory along with kinetic and isotopic labeling studies reveal that the selective oxidation of polyols is catalyzed by the unique Au/solution interface together with base and O2. OH- is critical in activating the alcohol O-H bond and the key oxidant whereas O2 regenerates active OH intermediates.
