Recoverable amphiphilic nanohybrids that simultaneously stabilize emulsions and catalyze reactions at the water/oil interface can be highly advantageous in processes such as bio-oil upgrading and chemicals production.  By depositing catalytic species onto either the hydrophobic or the hydrophilic face of the nanohybrids, one can selectively catalyze reactions on each phase.
