Excellent ORR performance was found for Pd₃Fe(111) crystal. A strong correlation of this performance to the presence of surface Fe is established. By controlling the coverage of Au, the high activity of Pd₃Fe(111) can be maintained and the stability of the catalyst improved significantly.
