PtRu0.8Sn0.2/C catalyst prepared by selectively depositing Sn on the Pt-Ru surface, using a chemical vapor deposition method, exhibited higher CO tolerance than PtRuxSny/C catalysts prepared by precipitation and the commercially available PtRu1.0/C catalyst, because CO oxidation by the bi-functional mechanism proceeded more efficiently on the former catalyst.
