Zero emissions of nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons and particulate matter from exhaust of high NO concentration with excess oxygen can be achieved via an electrochemical-catalytic converter of a ceramic cell stack composed of electrochemical-catalytic cells. This allows the conversion of stoichiometric-burn engines to lean-burn and the deletion of exhaust gas recirculation.
