Variation of the Au fraction in 1.8% PdAu/Al2O3 catalysts from 0.3 to 0.9 did not affect the surface composition of metallic particles corresponding to the Pd2Au alloy. Independently on the bulk composition this surface alloy demonstrated similar electronic properties, turnover frequencies and activation energies for hydrogen production from formic acid.
