A new pretreatment method, involving saturation of the catalyst with liquid water during reduction (water-pretreatment), improved activity and coke resistance of Ni/g-Al2O3 in the combined steam and carbon dioxide reforming of methane. The catalyst was characterized by TEM, XRD, BET, Chemisorption, TGA, and XPS to understand how water-pretreatment affects the performance.
