P-Tu-147 Selective Hydrogenation of Mixed C4 Products Containing High Vinyl Acetylene Concentration

This work investigates optimal reaction conditions for selective hydrogenation of mixed C4 streams containing high concentrations of vinyl acetylene to 1,3-butadiene or 1-butene using a commercial Pd catalyst. Mechanistic aspects of catalyst deactivation are also investigated. Selective hydrogenation provides more economic benefit than complete hydrogenation to butane.
