Simultaneous water-splitting and carbon dioxide methanation would provide an economic and environmentally beneficial route for the Sabatier reaction.  In this work, successful water-splitting by photocatalytically active Ru-doped titania nanotubes under UV-light is demonstrated and the feasibility of simultaneous carbon dioxide reduction in a flow system is discussed.
