Catalytic allylation of acyclic acetals has been reported. However, in the case of cyclic acetals, a stoichiometric amount of Lewis acid to the acetal is necessary for the allylation of cyclic acetals. Herein, we report the catalytic ring-opening allylation of cyclic acetals with allylsilanes using silica-alumina as a solid acid.
