We screened a range of supported Pd, Ru, Mo etc. catalysts for oxidative desulfurization of model diesel with O2 as oxidant. Pd/C and Mo2C/C gave the best selectivity for oxidizing sulfur vs. alkylaromatics. The main drawback is sacrificial oxidation of alkylaromatics in the diesel, and we quantified this.
