The reduction of C4-species such as 1,3-butadiene, which acts as precursor for the green oil formation, is crucial for the application of catalysts in industrial tail-end hydrogenation of acetylene. High throughput screenings of catalysts permit the rapid identification of numerous potential new catalysts and their catalytic testing under relevant conditions.
