The M1-Ta catalyst prepared by microwave-assisted method with a soluble Ta-precursor provided a more reactive M1 phase in propane (amm)oxidation than the M1-Nb catalyst. The correlations between catalytic activity and distribution of V at the proposed active/selective site enable us to improve these mixed-metal oxide catalysts for (amm)oxidation of propane.
