A novel gold catalyst (0.7% Au /SBA-15-CeO2) was synthesized via wet chemical processing route using a gold cationic complex precursor [Au(en)2]3+ (Au-ethylenediamine complex), and fully characterized. This catalyst was found very active and 100 % selective for lactose oxidation to bioactive lactobionic acid under mild reaction conditions.
