The average gold particle sizes on CeO2 have been predicted by using plasmon bands detected from UV-Vis reflectance.  In comparison to the pretreatment in H2 or in H2O vapor, Au/CeO2 pretreated in CO at 200°C would generate gold particles with smaller sizes and with higher activity during WGS reaction.
