MoS2-based hydrotreating catalysts commonly present poorly organized curved slabs. Well-defined systems based on fullerene-like nanospheres were then synthesized to evaluate slab curving effects. Results showed that curving slabs led to new active sites presenting properties differing from edge sites through the suppression of the olefinic hydrogenating character.
