Redox isotherms of cobalt supported on mesoporous silica and zirconia were measured using the coulometric titration technique to determine the oxidation state of supported cobalt particles under Fischer-Tropsch synthesis conditions. Strong oxide-support interactions can cause incomplete reduction of supported cobalt oxide at Fischer-Tropsch synthesis conditions making the catalysts less active.
