Data characterizing guaiacol and eugenol conversion catalyzed by Pt/Al2O3 (with H2) demonstrate that oxygen removal reactions occur with relatively high selectivity, leading to valuable biofuel components and chemicals.  The networks of these reactions combined with kinetic data provide a valuable step towards prediction of the catalytic conversion of lignin-derived bio-oils.
