The effect of platinum/tin alloy composition on light alkane dehydrogenation and coke formation have been studied using density functional theory. As compared to pure Pt, C-H bond scission is more difficult on the alloys, dihydrogen desorption is more facile, and most C-C bond cleavage steps are very difficult.
