We report synthetic protocols and guiding principles for the synthesis of zeolites without organic structure-directing agents via interzeolite transformations. These protocols can also be used to retain encapsulated metal clusters within zeolite frameworks, thus providing a strategy for encapsulation into structures for which more direct methods of encapsulation are unavailable.
