Wash-Coat Development for Lean-Burn Engine-Exhaust Aftertreatment: Incorporation of Binder to Pd Supported on Sulfated Zirconia

To develop an active wash-coat for the dual-catalyst after-treatment system for lean-burn engines, binders were incorporated into the reduction catalyst (Pd/SZ). NO_x reduction tests showed improved hydro-thermal stability and sulfur resistance with addition of alumina binder. XRD and DRIFTS were used to study the effect of binder addition to Pd/SZ.
