New insight into the mechanism of the selective catalytic reduction of NOx by ammonia over Cu- and Fe-zeolites was gained by operand spectroscopy. In particular, we applied for the first time time- and spatially resolved XAS as well as a combination of XANES, EXAFS, and valence-to-core XES under reaction conditions.
