Chemical looping reforming (CLR) represents a potential improvement compared to conventional methane reforming processes. However, it can suffer from low selectivity and activity of the redox catalysts. This work identifies a highly active and selective core-shell redox catalyst for CLR and gives mechanistic insights that allow for further catalyst improvements.
