Kinetics of methanol oxidation dehydrogenation are strictly related to the concentrations and binding strengths of reactive oxygen species on metal or metal-oxide clusters. The direct connection of rates to the thermodynamic activities of oxygen results in the single-valued functional dependence of first-order rate coefficients and oxidant-to-methanol ratio.
