The aim of this work was to investigate the solvent influence on an unconventional synthesis of promoted NiWS catalysts by using nickel acetylacetonate and their activity in the hydrodesulfurization of 4,6 dimethyldibenzothiophene, in order to gain further insight into the synthesis mechanism to design highly active catalysts.
