We studied the partial oxidation of ethylene and acetic acid on Au/TiO₂ catalysts. Density functional theory calculations along with in-situ infrared spectroscopy are used to probe the active sites and intermediates of the reaction. It is found that the Au-Ti site pairs at Au/TiO₂ interface play an important rolefor oxidation reactions.
