We designed rare-earth/transition metal oxide (TM-REO) using computation, synthesis and characterization to efficiently reform hydrocarbons (tars and lighter) for gasifier effluent cleanup.  Based on DFT predictions, these catalysts consisted of TM-doped REOs.  They proved superior to standard high-temperature Ni-based catalysts for model syngas feeds.
