P-Tu-B-66 Bimetallic Ring Opening Catalysis: Towards Materials with More Abundant Elements in Earth's Crust

Ring opening of multi ring compounds to paraffins desigend to upgrade diesel. Compared to the Pt-Ir/ɣ-Al2O3 catalyst, Ir based transition metal catalysts provided:

1) Comparable conversion of indan, activity and productivity of valuable products

2) Higher selectivity to n-propylbenzene for cetane number improvement; Less cracking and carbon loss

3) Lower cost of catalyst
