Rhombohedral γ-alumina platelets with well-defined morphologies were thoroughly studied as a model material. Their surface characteristics and properties as catalyst supports were analyzed in a comparative study with typical high-surface area γ-alumina, using tungsten oxide as the supported catalyst.
