The synthesis of higher alcohols from CO/H2 and ethanol over Cs-modified CuO/ZnO catalysts is reported. Using an optimal ethanol:CO ratio of 0.5 high selectivity and yield of higher alcohols were observed. In contrast at higher ethanol:CO ratio the formation of undesired side products was preferred.
