Atomic palladium species were synthesized by grafting an organometallic palladium complex to SiO₂ in solution followed by atomic layer deposition (ALD) of alumina and ozonation. Our work provides an extendable strategy of anchoring single metal atoms to oxide supports with well-defined synthetic steps.
