Mo2C catalyzed CO2 into CH4 as less negative as 0.2 V compared to Cu. However, most of the current through the Mo2C electrocatalysts was utilized for hydrogen evolution reaction. Density functional theory coupled with microkinetic analyses suggested that the surface coverage of reaction intermediate, are responsible for those experimental phenomena.
