O-W-406-6 Transition Metal Carbides As Alternative Catalysts to Precious Metals for Highly Selective Reduction of CO2 to CO

Mo2C is one of the most effective materials for reducing CO2, but discovery of other active catalysts can be difficult.  Results of this study show that the activity of other transition metal carbides is strongly correlated with oxygen binding energy and reducibility as shown by DFT calculations and XANES measurements.
