Hydrotreating of bitumen derived heavy gas oil was performed using synthesized mesoporous Al2O3 supported NiMo catalysts. The effect of (i) EDTA, (ii) P addition and method of preparation  and (iii) P and EDTA(combined) on activity of mesoporous Al2O3 supported NiMo catalyst was studied. All catalyst were characterized using various techniques.
