Conformational Effects and Metal Catalyst Screening for Upgrade of Furanics

In this study, we investigate the effect of coverage on furfural adsorption and reaction on Pd(111) using density functional theory along with microkinetic modeling.  We then develop first principles semi-empirical methods to extend the findings to other metal surfaces and predict suitable catalysts.
