Photolytic and photocatalytic degradation experiments of omeprazole were performed in order to identify transformation products. Infrared (IR), UV-Vis spectroscopy and high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) was employed to analyze the degradation of omeprazole. Total organic carbon (TOC) showed a 30 % mineralization rate with photolysis and 80 % for photocatalysis.
