In Fischer Tropsch catalysis, Nb2O5-supported catalysts were found to yield higher selectivities towards liquid products than γ-Al2O3-supported catalysts and could be operated at higher temperatures and correspondingly higher activities. For Pt-promoted Co/Nb2O5 catalysts the turn-over frequency was enhanced by a factor 2.5 compared to Pt-Co/γ-Al2O3 catalysts.
