Many reactions are accelerated by order(s) of magnitude with microwave exposure. Enhancements of catalytic reactions and catalysis synthesis have been demonstrated. Reasons for microwave reaction enhancements are conflicting.  We demonstrate that variation of selective heating in time and space at interfaces naturally leads to rate enhancement for catalytic reactions.
