Bimetallic Ni-Ir nanoparticles of alloy and core/shell structures were synthesized by the colloid chemistry, trying to maximize the surface coverage of the noble metal in the final particles. Observed activities show improvements due to bimetallicity, while TOF results helped to explain the role of each metal in bimetallic catalysts.
