Mo/HZSM-5 catalyst can catalyze the reaction between benzene and methane. Not only was a toluene produced, presumably through methylation reaction, but naphthalene was also formed, possibly by the condensation reaction of two benzenes. Addition of H2 into feed stream can improve toluene selectivity with lowering naphthalene, however, the conversion dropped.
